DTG (Direct-to-Garment)

DTG prints directly onto the garment like a high-end inkjet. It is a go-to choice for soft feel, detailed artwork, and short runs on cotton tees and hoodies.

How DTG works

We pretreat the garment (for color and wash durability), print your art directly to the fabric, then cure the inks. The result is a soft, detailed print that works especially well on cotton.

Pros

  • Soft feel on cotton, great for retail-style tees
  • Excellent detail for photos, shading, and complex art
  • No setup for small runs and one-offs
  • Easy to personalize names or small variations

Limitations

  • Best on cotton; performance/poly blends vary by fabric
  • Very large solid fills can show fabric texture
  • Dark garments require underbase and pretreatment
  • Not ideal for certain water-repellent or coated fabrics

Best for

  • Apparel: Cotton shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies
  • Artwork: Photos, illustration, and high-detail prints
  • Orders: Small runs, samples, and on-demand reorders

Artwork tips

DTG rewards clean source files and thoughtful sizing. We will flag anything that risks banding, soft edges, or muddy color.

Files

  • High-res PNG (transparent) or vector (AI, EPS, PDF)
  • Avoid tiny text on heavily textured fabrics
  • Send intended garment color for accurate previewing

Care

  • Wash inside-out, cold or warm
  • Avoid bleach and harsh detergents
  • Tumble dry low or hang dry
