DTF (Direct-to-Film)

DTF prints your artwork onto a special film, then heat-presses it onto the garment. It is a strong all-around option when you want full color, crisp edges, and flexibility across fabric types.

How DTF works

We prep your file, print it to film, apply adhesive powder, cure it, then press it to the garment. After pressing, the film is peeled and the print is finished with a final press for durability.

Pros

  • Great color and fine detail (logos, gradients, small text)
  • Works on a wide range of garments, including blends
  • Consistent results for mixed-size, mixed-style orders
  • Fast turnaround for small runs and reorders

Limitations

  • Hand feel is a thin transfer layer (not “in the fabric”)
  • Very large solid areas can feel heavier and less breathable
  • Placement is limited by press size and garment seams/zippers
  • Care matters: avoid high heat and harsh wash/dry cycles

Best for

  • Apparel: Shirts, hoodies, hats, jerseys (depending on material and paneling)
  • Artwork: Full-color logos, photo-style graphics, and short-run drops
  • Orders: Small batches, mixed sizes, and quick reprints

Artwork tips

The cleaner the file, the cleaner the print. If you are not sure what you have, send it anyway and we will advise.

Files

  • Vector preferred (AI, EPS, PDF) for logos and text
  • Raster ok if high-res (PNG recommended, transparent background)
  • Tell us final print size so we can check sharpness

Care

  • Wash inside-out, cold or warm
  • Tumble dry low or hang dry
  • No iron directly on the print
